Amy doll

Amy is one of the most endearing, enduring favorites from the SewSweet Dolls pattern collection. She is designed to resemble my daughter Amy at age 3, and -"yes", her hair really was that long. I just finished a phone conversation with an old customer who was reminiscing about the Amy dolls she made 20 or more years ago. She is now making them for her great grand daughters.
Amy 16" & Willie Bear 4"

Little girls always like long hair. (Actually, that's not exclusive to little girls - lots of people like long hair.) Amy loved it, as a little girl, and has her whole life. She was really upset with me when she got her first hair cut, before kindergarten. She looked adorable, but - her hair was never short again until she was a career woman, and decided to try it again.

Amy has additional clothes patterns that give her a nice variety of styles to pieces to mix and match. She's a fun gift for little girls, and fun to sew.

The person I mentioned earlier said that she had made dolls for all her daughters and grand daughters. Her son wasn't so sure his son should have a doll, but has changed his mind. It seems that they are 'expecting' a baby boy, and big brother has already named him - so she is making a baby boy doll for him.

Fleece pre-order final update...for now

Well, it's official. Sorry to say we don't have near enough pre-orders to consider ordering our fleece doll fabric at this time. I would have been willing to offer it if we had gotten close, but we only have about a third of the orders needed. I sincerely thank all of you who supported this effort. If I can figure out another way to do this, I'll let you know. Carolee

We have been putting off making a final decision . . .

Mimi

Hi Everyone! Just had a wonderful family filled celebration of my Mom's 91st birthday! Now - back to reality.

Pre-orders are still coming in, but we are way below where we need to be. We have about 70 - well short of the 200 we need. Should we keep on taking orders and waiting?? or, should we just accept that this isn't the right time?? This is a difficult decision, because I know how important this fabric is to many of you, and to me, as well. I'm starting to 'see' some new dolls in my mind. I guess I'm getting the doll making bug again.

I'm interested in your thoughts about the fleece situation. Do you have any ideas on how to spread the word and maybe get more orders?

Thanks to Your Support Pre-order Counts are Going Up!

Lollipop

Well, we have just about doubled the count since the last post. Yahoo!! Still a lot to go, but I feel very encouraged. Thank you for your support.

I discovered this morning, that I did not give clear instructions for finding the Special Offers link - sorry about that! For those who didn't figure it out, it's on the second page, after you click on 'dolls a to z'. The next page will have a panel on the right with selections - and, 'special offers' is one of them.

The new web site is still not running perfectly. I have help coming, but it's taking a while. If you find any mistakes, I'd appreciate hearing about them.

Fleece Pre Orders Up-date

Angela & Bear Cub

We have received about 30 pre-orders so far. We need 200, so there is work to do. I'm planning to contact people by email. Please don't be alarmed if you get one of these and have already pre-ordered. I don't have an easy way to match the orders to the list.

We are extending the closing date - for a few more weeks.

New Web Site is Up! Yahoo!!!

Gracie
(from Faith, Hope and Gracie patten)

Our new web site is up and working. There are a few 'cosmetic' problems that we are getting help with, but I thought it was important to have the new site up. It will be a *WIP for some time to come, and the outlet will be constantly changing.

The BIG NEWS is our offer regarding our fleece doll body fabric. Please see the offer on the new site under special offers or fleece body fabric.

If you have the old site book-marked, it will continue to come up. You will have to type in the site address in your browser to get to the new one.

Please let me know how you like it. All your suggestions and criticisms will be appreciated.

*WIP = work in progress

I'm doing a Carolee Creations - SewSweet Dolls blog as a supplement to our web site. Things are so much easier to update on a blog. Many of you have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting... along with us, for our new web site to be launched. We had been promised a launch date of Jan. 1 - 2009! That's two years ago!

Here we are in Feb. 2011. We are in beta testing now. I wound up having to finish the site myself, which meant learning how to do it. I have received help from a very kind Professor at Elmhurst College and - we are close to  completion.

All of the doll patterns ever offered by Carolee Creations will be available on the web site. If we have missed one, please let us know and it will be added. We have decided to discontinue selling materials, tools, etc. and will be selling patterns only. Except for body fabric and pre-cut eye pieces which are now sold in bulk by popular demand. This means by size and color, in packages of 40 plus pieces.
